Title: Quest TV showing up on many sub-channels
Post by: celestial on February 02, 2018, 06:42:27 PM
The Quest network started up earlier this week, it appears to broadcast in widescreen standard def.  You can see all their affiliates here:

Code:
http://www.questtv.com/find-quest

If you live in one of the ares shown you might want to re-scan your local channels.

Thanks; looks like it will show up on a Fresno.ca. ch soon.  There are a few that will be going through a "re-pack".  Sounds like a good OTA ch.  Jess out in Fresno, California

I just saw this post - thank you celestial!

I have never heard of this channel before now.

So i googled it and found their website

Code:
http://www.questtv.com/

Quest is a 24/7 broadcast television network that entertains and informs its viewers with exhilarating adventure programming about nature’s greatest dangers, history’s greatest mysteries and man’s greatest achievements.

Modern Marvels, Ice Road Truckers, Swamp Loggers, Dual Survival, Auction Kings, etc...

This channel is right up my alley for sure!

Only problem is I am not getting it (yet).

I am in the Flint, Mi OTA area. They do not have it here yet.

It is in the Detroit, MI area (WUDL Channel 19.1) but that is 70+ miles away and i can not get the signal.

Might need to get me a deep fringe antenna

The folks who own Quest, also own Justice Network, which is on FTA on G19 C Band.

Maybe Quest will show up alongside of Justice?

................This is not TEGNA’s first OTA network as they first launch the Justice Network back in 2015. The Justice Network focuses on Crime programs like “I Survived” and works with big names in Crime TV like John Walsh.................

I don't think it's likely we will get it either. There's no real slots for sub channels left on any of our local stations. Unless they get rid of the horrible "TBD" channel. But I don't see that happening as it's their in-house owned channel.

Even though their webpage shows nice satellite dishes if you scroll down a bit it says it's an IP-delivered network. ::sad

Still no Quest TV in my area on OTA.

Anyone get this channel now that did not last year?

They seem to be expanding their coverage.

Remounted my OTA Antenna today. Surprisingly I am picking up Quest, Decades, and Justice as sub-channels of WCNC out of Charlotte NC. That's a 90.7 air mile Tropo signal.

Shooting thru trees as well.  ::shocked

Some good programing on Quest! Titantv has the listing now...another plus.

I'm wondering if they have added a relay tower closer to me. Signal is still strong. No other Charlotte stations are scan-able today. Tropo rarely lasts this long...time will tell.

It will probably fade out in the middle of something really good. lol

Moved to south of Dallas/Fort Worth area recently and getting Quest on the WFAA channel.

There's some pretty good shows, though most of it is on while I'm at work ::sad

Wsjv in south bend has it it's not bad. Can you get Detroit channels?

I guess Quest has been in the Atlanta market for 6 months or longer. It is a nice addition with varied content.

Code:
https://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=cm-3020

You can usually get terrestrial tv stations 50-70 air miles away in the United States by using a decent deep fringe antenna installed at a rule of thumb height of 7 wavelengths for vhf, and 11 wavelengths for uhf.  Feed the installed antenna with a good quality rg11, or other low loss cable, and avoid installing inline amplifiers if possible.

Most houses today are located in an area where you could not install a large deep fringe type antenna due to restrictions. So you have to make do with what you have or what is available. Maybe within the next 5 years, OTA content will improve for everyone.  The new ATSC system is supposed to improve many things. We will see...

With a big enough antenna i probably could. Problem is my wife is not too keen on larger OTA antenna's. I kind of understand since i have 3 FTA dish's, and 2 OTA antenna's already.

Plus the Detroit channels with Quest are low power stations:

WADL Channel 38.3
WUDL Channel 19.1

So i think i would take a really large antenna.

Detroit is about 68 miles from me.

Looking on the Quest website tonight - they say it is in the Flint/Saginaw/Bay City, MI market

WFFC Channel 25.3

Code:
https://www.questtv.com/find-quest?field_geofield_distance%5Bdistance%5D=100&field_geofield_distance%5Bunit%5D=3959&field_geofield_distance%5Borigin%5D=48423

Problem is, this is not accurate. Channel 25.2 is TBD.

WFFC  is a low-powered television station licensed to Midland, Michigan. Digital channel 17

Midland is 74 miles from me.

I get WFFC up here in Sanford, it's 32 miles from me, and should be about the same distance to you, though they may be using a beam that's aimed more towards Midland area. It's actually on RF17, shows as digital channel 17, though when they first turned it on it WAS on digital 25, and slammed over WEYI, which is the true local station for digital 25.

WFFC-17 is broadcast from the old WKNX-56 tv tower in Bridgeport (which is the roots of WEYI), right here:

Same tower broadcasts WFKB-38
