I bought a UHD 4k Enigma2 receiver a couple of weeks ago, a Dreambox DM900. So now I've got 4 receivers currently hooked up:

Dreambox DM900

Azbox Me

Azbox Ultra

Openbox Z5

The first three are high quality and the last one is definitely not--at least as far as hardware build. The firmware on the Z5 is dated but OK and it has the fast Openbox blindscan. The newly acquired DM900 is getting the most use right now as I'm playing around with different Enigma2 firmware images.

I still have my Openbox S9 but decommissioned it when I got the Azbox Ultra.

I would like to see a review or at least some operation comments of the Dreambox DM900. About the only reason I did not get one is because Dream decided to go closed source on their image. Would be interesting to know how fast and accurate it blindscans and performs on 16APSK and other types of feeds. I know it is of good build quality, and has capability of changing internal DVBS/S2 tuners. Congratulations!

I'll definitely have more to say about the Dm900. The first thing I found out is that it has a blindscan bug that affects all of the newer enigma2 images that use kernel 3.14-1.17. The channels scan in fine but the transponder information is not correctly read and they are disabled in the channel list. The older images that use kernel 3.14-1.15 don't have that problem. The cutoff point is around May 2017 except for OpenPLI which is using the old kernel in the latest builds. The blindscan plugin is specific to Dreambox and is definitely a bit rough. The plugin doesn't list frequencies correctly in C-band, there is 2400 added to the actual frequency scanned but once I figured the right start and stop frequencies to plug in, it is pretty fast in C-Band and reasonable in Ku. In C-band blindscan can be as fast as 2-3 minutes and around 5-15 in Ku. I need to do more testing but so far it has been accurate.

The native DreamOS boots really fast--like 10 seconds--and is very stable but doesn't have nearly the options as OpenATV, Egami, OpenDroid, HDF, OpenPLI and other open source enigma2 builds that support this receiver.

That is a nice selection Marv. I bet you have some good ones from days gone by on that shelf too!  grin

@ FTAGardener ,
OpenPLi does not officially support DM900. So the OpenPLi image you are using is a hack or custom build of some type. It should boot saying  “Based on OpenPLi”. Image support was the main reason I did not get the DM900, but I have hopes Dream will change their position at some point.
Code:
https://openpli.org/news/openpli-stops-actively-supporting-dream-multimedia-stbs/

Sounds like the channel/ transponder issue is a multi - stream problem. This can be verified by looking at the transponders in the lamedb file which should be located in etc/enigma2. Channels on DVBS transponders should work correctly if it is a multi stream issue.

The blindscan plugin may be fixable or possibly another blindscan plugin may be used. Would be interesting to see what can be done in that area. PLi blindscan plugin has DMM files in it.

Start a thread on it if you want to tinker with it. I think that is a great receiver by looking at its specs and still may get one. Congratulations again on your purchase!

The famous DMT-1050!

You mean the Astrotel DMT-1050?  I had never heard of it, had to google it. I have seen Astrotel brand Ku LNB's for BUD dish's before, i had no idea they used to make a STB. Learned something new today!

We really need to start a new poll.

So many in this list are long obsolete, and there are many new models out.
