Here is the link to the law that prevents any landlord, home owners assoc, etc., from denying you the right to put up a TV antenna or a dish up to and including a one (1) meter dish be it for FTA or DBS. I consider it worth reading.  E_V

Thanks, Hyper for making it a sticky. This is information for guys like us to know so landlords, home owners assn, etc can not run rough shod over us!  I am a strong believer that if I have to go by rules and laws, so does the other guy.  E_V

Good to see this info posted....

I've found that in my area, there's a large number of people that are not aware that they cannot be outright restricted, or that they are not allowed to be charged "extra" for such an installation... (My landlord TRIED to tell me I had to hire someone to install a pole in the ground....)

By the same token, he gave me a document that actually in print violated the rulings....well... Unless ALL their properties have back yards that offer south & west exposure.... side yards simply don't work when properties are placed so close that you can open your windows and ask for some Grey Poupon without reaching!

Then again, I'm amazed that some landlords allow the "commercial" wide-oval antennas to be placed on the edges of roofs...that are shingled.... but whatever works I guess...  A good wind, and I'll have a shiny new dish in MY yard... :)

The only thing I've seen that's subjective in the rulings is the number of (dishes in this case) actually "allowed".   WHO decides what's acceptible there is rather vague....   I suppose if I didn't use a motor, that I'd probably have 2 or 3.... no yard left, but plenty to watch!

Oh wait --- less to mow too.... There's a plan....
