Hooked up the Opensat today and scanned 87w C band. Found all the channels on the first scan perfect! It gets a good strong signal on the HD channels even on my 8ft mesh dish. The AC3 works perfect! The remote works fantastic and you don't have to be exactly in-front of the box for it to work like you do with the solomand. All the menus are the same as the soloman so it was easy to use right out of the box. I have it on 480i hooked to my 62" Sony with the HDMI cable and picture is as good as 1080i. Over all this is a great HD receiver and a must for anyone enjoying LFTA. 2 BIG THUMBS UP yourock

Tracie, now you have to edit your signature to include the OpenBox S9!

Watching Lions vs Steelers in 720i HD.

Beautiful picture on this box.

OK. To help the review i am posting this Blind Scan test result info here.

As many members know we have an on-going Blind Scan Wars thread where we can compare actual test results.

Located here:

http://legalfreetoair.com/index.php?topic=1205

Here is how the OpenBox S9 HD performed:

OpenBox S9 HD

Factory Software 071110, 36" Dish, DMX521 0.2dB LNB.

252 TV and 137 Radio

1 minute 50 seconds

Thats checking for DVB-S2 as well as DVB-S!

Test results posted here:

http://legalfreetoair.com/index.php?topic=1205.msg22280#msg22280

and then 2nd test here:

Got mine hooked up and power on. Menu comes up all scrambled. I'm thinking to myself cause no one else
is around. LOL. It has to be the wrong video display resolution. It has a button on the remote to change that. (V Format)
It was on 576i and I changed it to 1080i. Works great now. Got my satellites in using USALS. One thing I did find out is USALS
numbers are sometimes different than my Traxis 3500.

Example:
Montana PBS at 125W
Traxis 3500 settings 127W
OpenBox S9 HD settings 123W

It probably would have been nice to use DiSEqC1.2, but with this receiver the signal meter does not work when moving
East or West. So you can't tell if you are on the satellite or not. Unless you make a move and exit out. Then the signal
meter starts working till you make another move. I have this same problem with my Traxis 3500.

Overall I'm very happy with the OpenBox S9 HD.

I normally use USALS and have no problem with it, but the one time I tried DisEqC 1.2 on my Solomend, I'm sure that the signal meter worked while I was adjusting it.

Tinker, if you move it a little East/West then go up and change the tp up one then back the signal meter will work when you are close, it is a pain, and I switched back to USALS as well, and just kept changing the location degree  a little until they all fell in line.

That's odd.No way to enter vpid/apid values.
Hmmm............
Doesn't matter much now.I wouldn't watch c-span much anyway, but it would be nice in the future just in case.

You can use the editor to add the video/audio/pcr pid's.  Would be nice to be able to do it with the remote however.  Maybe the subject for another firmware update.
