My brother is looking for the best terrestrial receivers but most if not all of them seem to be coming out of China, others that were well made are no longer in production, so he said. Can anyone give me a list of top 5 OTA receivers that work with all the best features, and with the best recording feature, since this is the one thing my brother uses the most? Thanks.

Look at: LINKBOX 9000i HD LOCAL PVR FTA Satellite + Terrestrial + IPTV Receiver

Look at linux receivers if you need more OTA features. The best linux receiver currently available can support up to 8 OTA tuners in a single receiver and simultaneously record up to 14 channels.

Thanks elbandido, my brother already looked at my Linkbox 9000i Local receiver and he was disappointed to find there are only 8 timer record settings. He tried just about all the Chinese and other made models. Which Linux models do you suggest?

What exactly does your brother want the OTA receiver to be capable of doing? How much money is he willing to spend?

It all began for me with a fixed Hotdish75 on 97W.

Truffy,
The new Tablo OTA receiver, with DVR functionality and tv signal distribution to tablets, smartphones and PC's, looks to be quite promising. It is getting lots of good reviews. It comes in two different models (two tuner and four tuner). It is available online from places like direct from the manufacturer, Best Buy and Newegg. The first wave of online offerings completely sold out. I found some nice review videos of the Tablo on YouTube too.

Aaah...thanks! This is just what my brother needed. Kind of expensive though, but it looks very promising. Thanks again.

I've been using an iview3500 I a bedroom hooked up to an old 19" TV.  I picked it up from Amazon a while back for about $40. Has a guide and you can record.  I've recorded using a "thumb" drive , but it will take up to 1T hdd.

If your brother has a satellite as well as roof top antenna, the new Manhattan that's coming out later this year, might be a good choice for him. it has an OTA tuner and from what Jeff S. has stated, you can record from OTA on a USB hard drive at the same time you're watching and FTA channel on the same STB.

I love my Raydx 10.5-footer. It brings in 16APSK feeds quite well! Titanium C1 PLL LNBF & GEOSATpro SL1PLL Ku LNBF to a FreeSat GTC 4K receiver!
