Brian, thanks for your input. I am always curious about this hobby of ours! What size dish is best?

I do not YET have ORBY but i appreciate the option to be able to.

Directv - no way

Dishnetwork, better than Directv in my opinion

It is great to have a 3rd (Ku SAT) option with a month to month contract at a fixed price.

What size dish is best?

I use the standard Orby dish here at the office and a GSP90cm in the RV. The 90cm is total over kill, but have several unused laying around.  Cool

Newbie in Delaware, Thank you all for letting me in the group.

I am trying to get orby setup using an old directv dish with a geosatpro lnbf, i can not seem to hit the sat for nothing,

The dish is pointed 244 west on a compass, the dish is skewed 39.4, with an elevation of 28.3, does all this sound right for zip code 19973?
Thank You
James

Hi James,

This is what i get for your location using dishpointer.com

Address: 19973
Latitude: 38.6178°
Longitude: -75.6441°

Satellite: 117W EUTELSAT 117 WEST B
Elevation: 28.2°
Azimuth (true): 234.7°
Azimuth (magn.): 246.2°
Skew 39.5

So your info sounds about right.

Make sure you have the skew set in the right direction.

Also, use dishpointer.com with the google earth sat image to show you where to point based on your property, this is very helpful.

Lastly, if all this is correct and still no signal, re-check the focal point/distance angle of the LNB to the dish. I assume you used a add-on braclek to hold SL1 LNB to the old Directv dish. If you are not sure if this is correct put the old DTV LNB back on, make some cardboard templates to show the distance, height and angle, and use this to set the new bracket/lnb.

Keep at it, your hard work will be worth it!
