OK. I just started testing this LNB last night so there will be much more info and test results that I will report here on this LNB but I wanted to let you know my initial findings. I was bored and it was 1AM last night and tracieok said i should watch some old cheesie horror movie on 83.0W RTN so i decided what the heck and went out in the dark with my First Strike FS1 Meter and aimed a dish at 83.0W.

I was using my 36" Fortec with an old but very good Techsat Tracker 0.3dB LNB. I worked on this set-up with my FS1 Meter and quickly found the sat but no matter how much i worked i could get around 78% signal and 24% quality. I just couldnt get it any better and using the FS1 believe me i know how to max a dish and LNB.

So I decided to grab the Siptfire Elite. I put it in place of the other LNB, remember i already had the dish peaked, and signal went down to 72, but quality jumped up to 55% which was a huge jump over the old LNB. 55% is pretty good on 83.0W, a notoriously weak satellite.

So thats is my first initail test with this LNB. More to come in the next couple of days, but I am damn impressed so far.

just wanted to post on the new spitfire elite all. i ordered this one a week ago and just now getting the time to play with it. one big plus is it mounted right to my 39" primstar support bracket without changing a thing. another plus was the weight of the spitfire compaired to the original lnb that i was useing. this lnb is also very easy to skew and turn in the support arm as compaired to the larger metal lnb. the slick coating or finish on the spitfire makes it easy to turn without hanging up in the bracket and moving the dish before you can get it locked down. the signal quality with the older njr2112f lnb pointed at 72w and 101w and 103w was never greater than 71 to 76 no matter how long i tweeked it. the spitfire elite signal quality boosted my signal to around 86 and sometimes jumping to 89 and 90 and i really haven,t played with it a long time. tomorrow i will test on a few weaker sats but  the spitfire was worth 15 bucks and change to me and its hd ready.  ::coffeeread

update on testing the spitfire on another sat tonight all. 1am and a nice night and i just had to find 83w after so much talk in the forms of how weak the signal was. so after about 35 min of in and out of the house with my dog jake peaking through the door checking on the signal quality for some sign of life.then BINGO the quality started at 10 and i knew for sure i was in the ballpark. after slowly tweeking and tweeking for the best signals this is what i came up with. SIGNAL 78 and QUALITY 74  so next comes the blind scan and (4) transponders loaded. 11735 H  4231,   11840H 26667,  12160 H  30000, and  12139 V 30000 .  three channels that i never had or even seen befour.  RTV East  RTV West  and Amc9/3f WOW >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OLD MOVIES >>>>>>>>>LOVE IT>>>>>>>> WILL test the spitfire elite on other sats and post back soon.  DISHDADDY//   :sk         ::coffeeread

How does the spitfire stand up against the techsat tracker II? Is the quality about the same or is the spitfire better?

I would say the Spitfire is a little better. My Techsat Tracker was 2 years old when i replaced it with the Spitfire, so maybe that had something to do with it, but my sig and quality did jump 4 or 5 points.
