How to setup dish in the arc on polar mount.

Generally when setting up a new polar mount.
The Mount assembly is plumbed onto a pole using the 4 bolts supplied.
These bolts acts like shims on the pole. its always good to start with a plumbed pole.

The next set is to set the declination.
You can review what is your magnetic declination angle is for your location.
Mine is about 5 to 6 degree.
This is something you need to do on a (HH Motor on KU dish) or C band on polar mount.

Then you set your evelvation angle and tweak the dish on your true south.
The hardest part follows is determining what is the next adjust to do.
Review the arch diagrams below to see what needs to be done to remain in the arch.

However I prefer to do it this way
To avoid any confusion as to which was to either increase
or decrease my declination to correct my arch...

Review the before and after pic below..

1- Imagine two lines on your polar mount base and the the base of your dish.
2- Start with them both being parallel to each other.
3- Keep the polar mount assembly pointed to true south.
4- Tweak and peak on your true south bird using the elevation bolt only.
5- move the dish to the next few sats and see if they lock in..
Most likely nothing yet.
RETURN BACK TO YOUR TRUE SOUTH BIRD AND LOCK IN.
6- Using the declination bolt make (1 or 2) turns to bring the bottom of the dish towards the
pole. then INCREASE elevation to lock and peak on that bird again.
7- Turn you dish to the next few sats and see if youre locking in...

Repeat steps 5, 6 and 7 until you finally get a lock on most of the birds in the arc!
I try to keep the adjustments going in only one directions .
The declination bolt is tighten to bring the bottom dish closer.
The elevation angle is increased for each sweep I do until I am able to remain in the arch well.
By the time I am in the arc, Im about 5 to 6 degree closer at the bottom of the two parallel lines.
From there you can make your fine adjustments based on the other 2 arc diagrams provided below.
