This new Manhattan Receiver the "RC-1978"  is named after Bob Cooper, a pioneer and legend in the home satellite reception industry.

No sir, the Manhattan RC-1978 HD does NOT have an ATSC tuner for OTA.

A future model from Manhattan will have an ATSC Tuner, expected to be available this spring/summer.

Hyper, does the RC-1978 scan in the radio channels on 105W with the name of the channels? Just wondering.

Unfortunately, i am kinda on vacation right now, and although i am still working, HyperMegaSat.com website is still open and we still ship orders every day, i DO NOT have a BUD dish here at my current location to check on that for you.  Maybe some one else can check on this for us?

Scanned the audio services on 105w today and found that the RC-1978 is like other STBs and required multiple scans to log these services. Found some names, but if the service was first logged without a service name, the service name would not be updated even if it was logged again in an additional scan. The maximum services found on a single scan was 252. Depending where the transport stream play-out was when the scan started, affected on which services and how many services would be logged.

As an example, here is a list of services found over the course of 10 TP scans for 4029 V 9257:
168/80/36/64/74/5/73/138/138/191 for a total of 619 unique channels logged of 1109 channels in the mux.

See attached spreadsheet for 105w.

Hyper and Brian, than you very much for the detailed infos on this receiver!

How would you rate it in comparison to the Linkbox 9000i? Is one more sensitive than the other at locking on weaker signals? And how do they compare in blind scan performance (speed, thorough detection, etc...)

Also, do you know if the RC-1978 is able to record the audio on channels that use AC3 (for example on the PBS mux on 125W Ku)?
