It is good to have the logging of Powervu channels in a free scan fixed. Blindscans for c band are cleaner, with no apparent duplicates when a free scan is selected.
RS232 logging of channels that are found in a c band scan has been disabled in this new firmware. I can no longer see what is found in a scan in the rs232 log.

Universal lnb still has duplicate channel issues in  blindscan, but the duplicate channel check eliminates them. This area could be improved greatly, but it is what it is, and will probably not be changed or adjusted.

Any two transponders spaced around 4 MHz apart, are on the same polarity and have a similar symbol rate may have issues. I do not expect this to be fixed.

The Amiko Mini 4K is unable to scan or lock transponders below 2000 symbol rate. I do not expect any changes here. The advertised symbol rate is 2-45. It looks like the receiver is capable of symbol rates between 2-60.

Fixing the universal lnb scan, transponder spacing problem, or  locking symbol rates below 2000 may require editing of the tuner driver. This is why I am skeptical of these items being fixed or changed.

Something easy thing to fix should be the channel editor issue of crashing, and receiver recovery or editing of channel files in rs232.  To date, Amiko has shown no interest here, except to say "send the receiver back."  I doubt they would say this if they were responsible for the receiver shipping cost in both directions.

It is worth mentioning that the Amiko Mini 4K seems to be capable of playing the radio channels that are on 105 west and 91 west. Most fta receivers will log some of these channels, but a lot of fta receivers will not play these channels. The Amiko Mini 4K is unable to log all of the radio entries that are on 105w c band in a single scan. My last scan on a receiver that will log all of the radio entries on 105w returned around 2700 channels or entries.

The Amiko Mini 4K also separates the Stingray music channels on 55w c band correctly.  Some receivers will show these radio channels in the tv channel listing, but the Amiko Mini 4K puts these radio channels in the correct place.

Thank you for this info elbandido, i have not gotten around to testing any of that yet, good to know.    smiley

Hey elbandido

From you list of issues in the first post of your review, i think this issue has been fixed:

Heroes and Decades channels mix on 101w c band.

I do not know if this was a problem with earlier versions of the firmware, but scanning with the V.01.23 this is not a problem for me.

I scan in Heroes SD at TP 3934 H 2730

I scan in Decades at TP 3923 H 2730

Both channels work great.

The white button on the remote -  tongue

I was wondering what this button does, and now i know.

When you hit OK on the remote to see channel list on the Amiko Mini 4K UHD S2X you get the WIDE 3 Panel channel list as see in pic 1 below.

Hit the white button to change to a 1 Panel list or a 2 Panel list.

See pics.

Hey elbandido

From you list of issues in the first post of your review, i think this issue has been fixed:

Cannot lock or scan a transponder below 2000 SR.

I am using V.01.23 and can confirm that the Amiko MINI 4K IHD will do symbol rates below 2000

Did you scan it or manually enter it???

I don't have a lot of time to look at it right now, but checking 95w c band,  the Amiko found nothing below 2000 SR while the Edision MIO which has the same tuner found 7 transponders below 2000 SR. I will try manual entry when time permits

The Amiko Mini 4K did not find any transponders at or below 2000 symbol rate in a blindscan of 117w c band.

Here is what the Amiko missed that I know about:

As for manual entry of these transponders, it is "Hit or Miss" for me.  I tested manual entry for some of these transponders, and found that some would lock, while others would not. Perhaps they would all lock if enough time was spent waiting on them??? I dunno...

I did manage to get one of the 1036 symbol rate transponders to lock on 95w c band by entering the frequency and patiently waiting for some amount of time. I was then able to scan the channel that was active on the transponder, then I had to wait some time again before I could watch it.

To recap scanning with 1.0.23 software, The Amiko Mini 4K does not find any transponders below 2000 SR, but it may lock and scan a transponder below 2000 SR if you manually enter the transponder and patiently wait for it to lock.

There are a lot of transponders with a symbol rate below 2000. How this would effect any particular user would probably be mixed.

I will check out your list from 117W C and see what i get there.

You are 100% correct on this. I tried for an 1/2 hour with the Amiko MINI 4K UHD to scan the signals from you list, no luck. Switched to a Geosatpro HDVR3500 and those transponders with the S/R below 2000 scan in no problem. So now i know 100% this is an issue with the Amiko MINI 4K UHD. But we know for sure it can play S/R's below 2000 so it must be a scanning issue maybe? Well above my pay grade, but i will contact Amiko about this and see if we can get this fixed up.

I tried blind-scanning the ku satellites at 91w and at 103w. No transponders were found below 2000 SR.

There are two places the low symbol rate setting could be preset for blind scans. One place would be in the driver. It will surprise me if you get anything changed in the tuner driver.

The last Amiko product that I purchased was around 10 years ago. 10 years ago, Amiko had a dedicated Internet forum support site, and many other internet forums were talking about and supporting their products.

Today, there is very little Amiko support. This can be seen Here:
Code:
https://www.amikostb.com/support
Notice there are no channels editors or recovery files at the official Amiko site for the Mini 4K??? This is not good and shows they do not seem to be active in the support area.

Most of the Amiko talk or support on other Internet forums are for other models besides the Amiko Mini 4K. Put simply, there is little Amiko receiver support today as compared to 10 years ago.  Amiko has moved into doorbells and other home furnishings. They probably don't care too much about the satellite stuff anymore.
Code:
https://www.amikohome.com/product/342-video-doorbell

I suspect with the Amiko Mini 4K, more or less what you have today will be what you have tomorrow, next week and next year. We will see....

I understand your opinion on the support, and yeah, i see support has waned over the years especially as seen on the Amiko forum, but, that said, i have only been selling Amiko products like MINI UHD 4K S2X at HyperMegaSat.com for a month or two now and i am finding Amiko is pretty responsive to my requests so far. They fixed the scanning issue for me (result V.1.0.23) within a few days of my request and I was pretty happy about that. Problem solved.

I have emailed them today with info about the S/R below 2000 issue and so lets see if we can get that fixed. So far so good as far as i am concerned with their support. But i am sure there are limits on what can be fixed, hopefully the most important stuff.

And it should be noted, i am helping with support as much as i can. I have put out custom North America satellite/transponder lists, and i am still working on improving this. Plus i have put out a channel list with Muzak included. This saves folks from having to input these themselves manually one by one. < not many dealers in NA offer this. Plus i have been making How To instructions on various operations of the MINI 4K UHD.

So, doing what i can, and staying on it as best i can. But i think the MINI 4K UHD is pretty darn good for an entry level 4K H.265 HEVC FTA Receiver. (Around $100). It has a few flaws/things that can be improved, but overall i have sold quite a few and folks seem to like it.

Whatever you or anyone else does with the updating of the satellite file and adding channels that will not scan is appreciated! I know this takes time and can be tedious.

The fixing of the Powervu channels being scanned with the free channels should not have been hard to do. This fix or adjustment most likely only took a few minutes, and the edit should have been in the main code. Having it setup to free scan Powervu was not the smartest thing to do considering that provider has been compromised.

Fixing the symbol rate where it will blind scan below 2000 will take more work and might cost some money to fix. There is a signal locking problem with symbol rates below 2000 which will take some adjustments in the tuner driver. This is why I doubt they fix it. Problems with transponders that are around 4 MHz apart, have the same polarity, and have a similar symbol rate probably will not be fixed either for the same reason. We will see...

Amiko could easily fix a channel editor so it would be stable and not crash. They could also provide a recovery option so the receiver would not have to be sent back to them if the channel list or file loading becomes corrupted. The Amiko Mini 4K has been on the market now for about half a year without a proper channel editor or a recovery option. This is why I say they do not care too much about supporting this receiver.

OK. Just got new firmware V 1.0.28 specifically to address the low symbol rate issue and i just tested it on Eutelsat 117 C Band.

It looks like perhaps the problem with low S/R scanning and playing may be solved. I was able to scan (blind scan) all these TP's/Channels from your list and they play great. I made SURE to start this scan with a completely empty transdponder list.

Excellent Work!!!
The low symbol rate problem does not seem to be 100% solved, but it is a great improvement over what we had. They should be able to fix the rest of it if they can fix this.

Someone decided we did not need to see the debug information anymore, so I cannot list what was scanned because the rs232 port no longer displays it.

I will post better details of what is found and what is not as time permits.

Thanks elbandido. I made sure to pass on a big thank you to the folks at Amiko who did the work for us. Its a team thing. You informed me of the issue, i informed Amiko and provided some data and also talked about how we need to fix issues to drive sales, and wala! I am asking them to turn the debug info on with the next release if possible. I assume it was there with previous (V1.0.23)? By the way, i am used to a rs232 port with the 9 pins, old school. What kind of cable are you using to connect this to the pc, where can i get one? And what program do you use to view the data? I know you are a busy guy. Maybe let me know when you have time, no hurry.
