Update Regarding SatHint.com EOL 03/31/2021

Sorry to say, SatHint.com will not be back.

It was time for the Sunset, End of Life moment for this website.

I know that will not be a popular decision (i myself will miss it too), but the decision has been a long time coming.

We just no longer have the time and resources to keep it going.

More on this here:

https://www.sathint.com/

That said, i will be thinking of ways to bring the essence of SatHint back in some form.
Perhaps with a new simplified site for North and South America only.
Or perhaps sat charts here on the forum. If so, it would only list ITC channels.

So i dont know, if life situations change and i get some more free time, we will see what the future brings.

THANK YOU to all the folks who visited SatHint.com over the years and those who contributed.

Please post your alternative websites that list satellite charts and channels for those who will need them.

I know they are not quite SatHint.com but better than nothing.

My favorite right now:

Code:
https://www.tvrosat.com/cgi-bin/portal_charts.cgi

Also there is:

Code:
https://www.satbeams.com/

And finally

Code:
https://www.lyngsat.com/

My son Evan, taken from his family and friends on March 26, 2010 at the age of 15. We love you and miss you Evan. We will see you again soon in heaven. I miss you son. You were the best son a dad could have. I am so proud of you. Save a place for me.

SatHint listings and updates were posted on some European sites.

One reason Europe does not need blindscan is due to a group of dedicated individuals updating the European satellites on Lyngsat. Programs are available that allow a fta receiver to download transponder and satellite information from Lyngsat. I doubt it ever happens, but if there were a dedicated group here in North America posting updates to Lyngsat, Then we would not need blindscan as much. It is easier to scan a good channel list than to blindscan.

You CAN receive C-band on a 1.2m dish!

The burden of updating a central FTA database is too large for one individual or company. If the basic structure could be put in place and the responsibility for updating is put exclusively on the shoulders of users, this seems more logical nowadays. Users would self-correct mistakes made to keep things accurate.

Added: I guess this already exists with satbeams.com. I've never used it for much other than satellite footprints. With sathint gone, maybe we users should focus more on keeping satbeams up-to-date.
