So I have given up on picking up 116.8w KU with my 6' C band dish. I'll try something more familiar like 103W or 97W. Anyway as I was pointing yesterday I parked on an encripted site and here is what was there.

I'm in the 103W neighborhood somewhere.

$Wright-Patterson ....but I can't get it now.

$E!
$DJR
$TREE

Some Radio Channels.not encrypted but I couldn't hear anything
11912 V 2000

Ch-22
Ch-23
Ch-24
Ch-287

12676 H 20000

$GLB-M
$CTV-R

Any help will be appreciated. This will let me know which way to go.

Dan

Yes thanks. It only took me 1 hour to get 103w after I got that info. IN SPITE OF WHAT EVERYONE SAID, THE SIGNAL IS VERY STRONG. 75% Q on the old OPENBOX and 78% Q on the Amiko S2X. You have to realize though, even with a "30% loss" , there is almost 4X  the surface area on a 6' dish compared to a 36" one.

Ok, but here is the weird thing though ON 103W on Amiko.

There is a STRONG Transpoder with more than 75% Q on my Amiko, but the picture is all shreaded and pixilated . WHY?

THE TP CHARACTERISTICS 11912 H 4600

0170 NBC MUX CH1 TX135
0171 NBC MUX CH1 TX136
0172 NBC MUX CH1 TX137
0173 NBC MUX CH1 TX138

I HAVE NEVER SEEN THESE TPS BEFORE ON MY OLD BOXES.

My question is: How strong is 75% Q? The answer is Nobody knows, and this probably includes Amiko. In some receivers, signal quality is a reference or reading of the noise plus the satellite signal. if you have more noise or raise the noise floor, then the signal quality goes up.

Code:
There is a STRONG Transpoder with more than 75% Q on my Amiko, but the picture is all shreaded and pixilated . WHY?

Using a lnb that is not matched for the dish may cause the noise to increase. Anytime the noise increases, it is hard for the satellite signal to get through. A high noise level along with a signal from the satellite may cause the receiver to show a high or nice signal level, when in reality the signal from the satellite can hardly overcome the noise level.  This is probably why you are seeing what appears to be a good signal coming from the satellite, when in reality the satellite signal is barely above the noise floor.

Maybe all of the other channels are crystal clear and SOLID because they are on stronger transponders?  You can expect these types of problems when parts are used that are not designed for each other.

About the only time I have problems receiving that transponder when using a 1.2 meter dish is in a heavy rain. Most of the time, that transponder is easy to get and provides a nice, clear picture.

Attached is a blindscan of 103w ku.
